Apple products are now packaged with their own suicide app

Comes in handy if you work in their Chinese factories

However if you work in one of their Chinese factories, you certainly can't afford to use Apple products.

You've got to be resourceful:

sounds like a chinese urban legend. you wake up naked in a bathtub of ice, with a huge scar where your kidney was cut out, and a brand new ipad.

Could be an urban legend, but sounds real to me. My husband just visited a village where most folks have sold their kidneys -- husbands, wives, neighbors, everyone. A lot of them didn't even get US $100 for it, though the rates vary, and that's just my off-the-cuff recollection of the price. Then they mostly drank the money away. At least iPads don't compromise your remaining kidney. Seriously, dunno about the situation in China specifically, but people absolutely do it for pennies. The middlemen make a lot more, obviously.

Btw you couldn't afford Apple products, but you could afford a knock-off. I got an "iPhone" with the Apple logo and all (knowing it was a knock-off, of course) for ... oh, geez, what did it cost ... about $25? Can't recall what Apple workers make in China (and couldn't do the comparison anyway, not knowing price of living and all), but a cruddy factory wage here would be, I guess, in the $75 a month range.

Knockoffs... how fitting that the corporate exploiters become the exploitees. I guess they'll gain an appreciation for globalism.
